Middle or High School Art Mandala Design
This mindful middle or high school art lesson is a great addition to any art curriculum. Using radial symmetry, students tap into the meditative qualities of mandala drawing. This art project is ready to go and easy to use. It saves teachers so much time and students love being able to refer back to video demonstrations and examples.
These mandalas are done on brown craft paper with black marker and white colored pencil however students can create these mandalas on any paper with any markers, colored pencils, or pens. You can also substitute any colored paper and use a marker instead of a pencil. If students do not have a compass at home they can trace any circular objects for guide marks.
This art project looks amazing when displayed all together. You can create a larger collaborative piece to display projects or display them on their own. The neutral color scheme gives these mandalas a unified look.
This art lesson contains:
- A PowerPoint presentation with student examples and a demonstration
- Instructional video
- Mandala practice worksheet
- 5 mandala PDFs that can be used for design inspiration or coloring
- Teacher instructions
- 2 PDFs with sample pattern designs
