Description
Create sketchbooks for high school or middle school art using collage materials, art supplies, cardboard, a needle, string, and drawing paper. This lesson is a great way to get students excited to journal and record their own thoughts in an artistic way. They learn how to make their own book, which can be used as a Visual Journal, sketchbook, or notebook.
This product contains:
- A PowerPoint with video demonstrations on how to create and bind their book.
- Included in the PowerPoint are instructions for a collage project which becomes the cover. Students use, color, texture, and pattern to reflect their sense of aesthetics and discover how they can express mood and feeling using these elements.
- Four-page PDF with instructions on how to complete the project with lots of pictures and examples.
This project is a great beginning-of-the-year lesson, as students can keep the book to complete journal assignments or just record their own ideas and thoughts however they would like in a safe place. The book is 6 x 9 and is a great size to have handy and keep close at all times. It can be used as a sketchbook or diary as well. It is good for exploring new ideas or reflecting on finished work.
Materials needed are drawing paper, cardboard, string, a needle, glue or medium, and a ruler.
